GBN Launches New Talent Competition

The Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) has launched its first ever Independence inter secondary school competition 2010. The contest will highlight various schools competing in the fields of Drama, dance, poetry and song as Grenada prepares for the 2010 independence celebration throughout the tri island state.

The competition will depict the traditional and historic aspects of Grenada’s history in commemoration of the 2010 Independence celebration with assistance from the ministry of Education and Culture

Thomas Matthew, chief Cultural officer in the ministry of Culture who attended the launch, says it is an excellent gesture and has assured organizers of the ministry’s full support throughout the competition

Ruel Edwards, General Manager of the Grenada Broadcasting Network GBN says the objective of the competition is to give young people an opportunity to engage in positive activities to build self esteem and promote patriotism and national pride.

The entire country will be divided into four zones including Carriacou.

The first place winner will receive a gold medal a trophy, 3 computers for the respective school and $2000.00 cash also for the school.
