Grenada Wins 4th Sagicor OECS Swim Championships

Julia Bishop and Esau Simpson smashed records and swam undefeated to lead Grenada to its 4th consecutive Sagicor OECS Swim Championships.

Bishop and Simpson were the only two swimmers to win all of their events and finish with eleven gold medals a piece as Grenada, spurred on by a strong home town support, topped the points table with 2085 points.

Former champions St.Lucia had to settle for second spot on 1704 points, Antigua 571.5 while St.Vincent and the Grenadines secured 13.5 points.

Bishop and Simpson dominated the 18 and over division as the host country won 7 of the 12 categories up for grabs in the 19th championships which got underway Friday at the four lane good hope swimming pool.

Bishop’s victories included the freestyle 50 yards, the breasts stroke, the individual medley and the relays while the 400 and 200 yard free style as well as the relays were among Simpson’s conquest.
