In a newscast aired earlier this week, solicitor general Keith Friday said that the penalty for violating the noise control act was 12 years imprisonment.
Well, citizens against noise, the group lobbying for the enforcement of the act, contacted our news desk to clarify that the penalty is in fact 12 months incarceration and not 12 years.
This was much needed clarification since the earlier statement of 12 year had provoked quite a response from the public with some websites expressing outrage over the length of the sentence.
Some of the questions being asked by john public is how will the level of noise be measured and who determine if it actually noise and who will be the judge of that.
